CLOSURE OF BEECH BEAVER COLONY AND ROUNDSHAW CUB PACK

Dear Beavers, Cubs, families and friends

It is with much regret that I have to announce that the Beaver Colony and Cub Pack currently meeting in St Paul's Church on Roundshaw will be closing on Wednesday 28 March 2007.

Angela Duncan, Sally Page and Andy Page have been working very hard to offer young people the opportunity to take part in these exciting activities, but, unfortunately, the numbers of young people wanting to take part in Scouting on Roundshaw has been reducing steadily over the last few years, to such an extent that it is now not viable to keep the sections open.

The leaders have struggled to offer activities to small groups of children you cannot play team games with only 3 children!

However, as many of you will know, 3rd Beddington does have two other Beaver Colonies and two other Cub Packs, both of which will be more than happy to welcome your children should you wish them to join them.

All 3rd Beddington Sections meet at St Michael's Centre, Milton Road, Wallington.

MondayAsh Beaver Colony5.30pm to 6.45pm
Milton Cub Pack6.45pm to 8.00pm
TuesdayOak Beaver Colony5.30pm to 6.45pm
FridayWordsworth Cub Pack6.30pm to 8.00pm

Angela Duncan will be joining the Leadership team of Ash Beavers, Andy Page will be joining Milton Cub Pack, and Sally will be floating between sections offering her specialist knowledge and skills where they can best be used as required.

I am very saddened to have to take this step, but I have been left with no choice. The young people have not been getting the most out of Scouting on Roundshaw, because not enough of them have been coming. The sections listed above are all very popular, and the young people who come along every week thoroughly enjoy themselves.

Please spend some time discussing this with your child’s section leader, and please feel free to contact me should you require any further information.

Yours in Scouting

Paul Goldsmith
